About LGDC

LGDCThe Land Grant Development Corporation (LGDC) was formed to create high quality Maharishi Sthapatya Veda (MSV) housing at the lowest price possible.

LGDC is a wholly owned subsidiary of Walker Group, Inc. (WGI). In its fourth year of operation, WGI has shown steady growth.

The management team consists of: Dan Walker is the President/CEO; Roland Wells is the COO; Ed walker is the CFO; and Steve Fry is the Director of Business Development.

DAN WALKER, President and CEO

Dan PictureDan Walker is President and CEO of the Walker Group, Inc. (WGI) and the Land Grant Development Corporation (LGDC). WGI is an insurance adjusting firm that specializes in writing construction estimates for carriers. LGDC is the development company for Cypress Villages. Dan is also the Instructor of the Commercial Damage Estimating Class for Vale National Training Group, the largest and oldest insurance adjuster training company in the US.
A graduate of the Georgia Institute of Technology in Industrial Management, Dan has experience in carpet manufacturing from Spring Mills, Inc. and modular housing at Boise Cascade. Dan has been involved in construction for over 40 years. His experience ranges from residential plumbing and carpentry to multi-million dollar commercial construction. He founded Walker Construction Company, Inc. (WCC, Inc.) in 1985 and for the next 7 years worked as a General Contractor and Specialty Sub-Contractor in the Washington, DC area, completing work for major clients such as Bechtel International, Turner Construction and The Washington Times.
In 1992, he returned to Fairfield and resumed contracting. In 1996, he was selected as the lead Structural and Mechanical Inspector for the City of Iowa City until he again returned to Fairfield. He worked in Building Inspections throughout SE Iowa, and became a multi-certified inspector with national recognition when he was selected to teach building code classes for the International Council of Building Officials in 1996.
In 1998, work as a Public Assistance Officer with the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) provided a launching point for adjusting work with insurance companies following disasters such as hurricanes, tornadoes and floods. WGI was founded in 2003, and has grown in its ability to support the insurance industry each year. In 2005-2006, WGI grossed over $10 million in revenues, managed over 250 insurance adjusters, and wrote over 12,000 construction estimates. WGI continued to grow in market share in 2006-2007.

ROLAND WELLS, Chief Operations Officerroland wells

Roland Wells has worked as a contractor and project manager on both residential and commercial projects in Fairfield for 7 years. As Chief Operations Officer of Walker Group, Inc., he oversees daily insurance claims operations as well as off-site catastrophe field operations.
Roland adds community experience and commitment to the ideals of the Land Grant Development Corporation from his many endeavors in Fairfield. He co-founded and directed Beatbox (http://www.thebeatbox.org/archive/june2003/) for six years, the organization that helped structure education and entertainment for the youth of Fairfield. More recently, Roland worked with Steve Fry and others to create the first community radio station in Fairfield, KRUU (http://www.kruufm.com).


ED WALKER, Chief Financial Officer
Ed Walker brings 34 years of financial and accounting experience to WGI and LGDC. Including over 15 years in project construction accounting for domestic and international projects, he worked as Director of Finance and Administration, CFO for KHD Deutz of America, the prestigious captive credit and property insurance corporation, and its subsidiaries, including Deutz Allis Corporation (AGCO), one of the top rated farm equipment manufacturers in the world.

JOYCE REEVES, Associate Business Development
Joyce Reeves has over 25 years of accounting and administrative management experience in project fulfillment, real estate legal operations, banking operations, commercial and mortgage finance and resort administration. As Director of Development of a national nonprofit organization for over a decade, she honed her marketing and public relations skills, and served as Governor appointed Vice-Chair of the Georgia Housing & Finance Authority. Prior to joining WGI in 2005, she was Operations Manager of North Georgia’s premier development company for four mountain lifestyle communities.

MARTHA NORBECK, Project Designer, Sustainability Specialist
Martha Norbeck has over a decade experience in sustainable design. Most recently she worked four years with Neumann Monson Architects, a green commercial firm in Iowa City, Iowa. She is a regional council member of the US Green Building Council and consults on LEED Green Building projects. Her passion for green design is informed by study of women’s studies at Smith College, political science, and ecology, as well as Fulbright research of Swedish Ecovillages. She has a Master of Architecture from the University of Oklahoma.

BRAD JENNINGS, Project Manager, Estimator
Brad Jennings brings over 25 years of construction, project management and building experience to LDGC. He has constructed a range of homes, both new and remodeled projects, in Alaska, Arkansas and Iowa. He graduated from the Maharishi University of Management in Physics and Mathematics.
Brad’s specialty in carpentry is framing, siding, custom millwork and roofing. He worked on the design of Sthapatya Veda homes, and managed his construction crew on multiple condos and other projects, the largest being an 8000 sf home. In 2004, Brad had the opportunity to move to Arkansas to work as project manager for a large custom home construction company, McMahon Brothers. When Brad returned from this position, he began work with WGI as an Insurance Adjuster.

JIM MASTERSON, Project Manager, Estimator
Jim Masterson has been working in construction and energy conservation for over two decades. After graduation with a BA in education, he worked as an energy conservation inspector. His green building experience includes alternative energy work and 19 years as owner of a painting and remodeling company which specialized in natural materials and finishes.
Jim has worked as project manager on residential and commercial projects and is involved in investment real estate. In 2000, he was facilities manager of a large private resort. In 2001, he established and managed an organic greenhouse facility. He has worked for Walker Group, Inc. as an insurance property adjuster for three years.



The legal entity that is developing Cypress Villages is Land Grant Development Corporation, a wholly owned subsidiary of Walker Group, Inc., a privately held corporation, registered in the State of Iowa.
